In a game with 6DOF, players can move their character or vehicle forward and backward, left and right, up and down, as well as rotate around all three axes (roll, pitch, and yaw). This level of freedom allows for a more immersive gameplay experience.

Games that feature 6DOF often fall into the genres of first-person shooters (FPS), flight simulators, space combat games, or virtual reality (VR) experiences. Here are some examples:

• Descent series The Descent series pioneered the use of 6DOF mechanics in video games. Players pilot a spaceship through underground mines with complete control over movement along all six axes.
• EVE: Valkyrie A multiplayer space combat VR game where players can freely navigate and engage in epic dogfights using various spacecraft.
• Titanfall series These FPS games combine on-foot combat with piloting large mechanized suits called Titans. Players have full 6DOF control when piloting these powerful machines.
